Diabetes (Diabetes mellitus) is a metabolic disorder which is characterised by
hypoglicemia i.e. a constantly elevated level of glucose in blood. Today, it is
one of the most frequent endocrine diseases with prevalence towards constant
increase (especially in developed countries). It is a consequence of modern
lifestyle and obesity.
The diseased must seek medical advice from a specialist
since the cause of this severe condition can be diverse.
Diabetes occurs due to insufficient production of
insuline (hormone of pancreas) in the body.
It it caused by the affected pancreas or by higher levels of
other hormones.
